Cold and cough in Ayurveda are treated in various ways depending upon the severity of the illness. Cough is a symptom of a respiratory infection. The Ayurvedic treatment of cold and cough in Ayurveda is aimed at treating the respiratory tract infection and preventing the aggravation of the situation. This is achieved by treating the basic pathology of the illness, i.e. the respiratory tract infection.

It should be noted that all the above-mentioned medicines can be used separately or combined as per the requirements of the patient. However, it is advisable to carry out a small-scale clinical trial before administering any medicine under the proper supervision of a trained medical practitioner.

There are several medicines that act on cough and cold in order to boost the immunity system of the body. These medicines include Abhrak Bhasma, Triphala Guggulu, Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Triphala Guggulu, Praval Bhasma, Shatavari Guggulu and Amalaki.
